Finca Sonrisa- An adventurers dream.

Here at Jacaranda Spain we are proud to introduce a new property to the portfolio.

The word "Sonrisa" means smile and as you wander around this unique country estate, you will find yourself doing just that!

This is a once in a lifetime type of property. It literally has it all. A sumptuous family home, a bodega with its own vineyards, a bar/restaurant and a self contained guest annexe.

The current owners have a story to tell.... of the journey to get here and the dream that they turned into reality.

Back in the UK they were a hardworking couple,  who built successful businesses through hard graft and determination. Their dream was to travel and set up a life far away from the "rat race". Nothing unusual in that, I hear you say?

Turning a dream into reality

They bought a boat, refurbished it and set sail! Their dream took them to Spain and they lived on that boat for many years. They settled in Altea for a short while, long enough to search for the location of their biggest adventure yet. They found what they were looking for in 2004, inland of the Costa Blanca, in the stunning mountain and valley setting of the Valle del Pop ( AKA the Jalon Valley). They employed an architect and spent countless hours drawing up the plans until their, very specific, wishes were on paper. The build began and it would be the best part of two years before it was completed.

The house was all they wanted and more! There was just the question of what to do with the land? They allowed a local farmer to harvest the grapes from the vineyard for a few years but then, never ones to shirk a challenge, they decided to try their hands at making some wine! They invested time and money into the bodega, and developed a white wine, a rosé and 5 different reds from the grapes; Ganache, Tempranillo, Shiraz, Bordeaux and Cotes de Rhone. They began to host wine tasting events and parties and found that people kept coming back.

There is total privacy and security here and it is hard to believe that you can walk in minutes into the center of Jalón. You can stroll in for a café con leche in the central plaza with its beautiful historic church and bell tower and its iconic blue dome. A 15 minute drive takes you to Calpe and 25 minutes to Denia and the gorgeous sandy beaches that every year acheive blue flag status.

This couple had a keen sense of adventure and wanderlust and they acheived everything they dreamed of, and more! The dream now is to hand Finca Sonrisa to someone with the same sense of vision.
