The owners of this amazing property are Susie and Andrew, who bought the finca, and moved in, in 2014. They also took over the business that is set within the plot. Maserof Kennels,  was established in 1990 and, for Susie and Andrew who are animal lovers, the business made buying the property a no-brainer.  They moved, from white collar, office jobs in England, to leave the rat race far behind them, and they set about reforming the house and gardens and took over the running of the kennels. Their time here in Maserof has been a real labour of love and it shows! The house and the gardens are simply beautiful and the business, should the new owners wish to keep it, is thriving. Maserof Dog Hotel is very well known and respected, with most of the four legged visitors repeat guests.

Susie and Andrew have 3 beautiful Galgo dogs of their own too! Gringo, Bartie and Crunchie Biscuit!

Susie´s favourite room to relax in is one of many stunning features to the outside living areas. The solid wooden pergola was built by a master carftsman and it truly is heaven to sit here and just be in the moment with a cup of coffee or a glass of locally produced wine- “I love to sit here and just listen to the Nightingale sing and look out at my garden and the mountain, it is bliss!” says Susie.

The heart that has gone into reforming and developing this finca is evident, and there is scope for so much more. With 19 kennels in use, Susie and Andrew decided that this was enough for them, but there is huge scope to expand and develop. There is a separate building which was used as a cattery, which could easily be up and running straight away. A large outbuilding at the back of the property could be used as more kennel space. The business, as it is, is a great success story and Susie and Andrew have created a lovely community spirit. Here at Jacaranda Spain, we can personally vouch for the care and attention the dogs receive- our much loved pointer “Sunny” is a regular guest and he loves going to see his friends at Maserof!

The property also lends itself to other interesting possibilities (subject to licences): There is a large, flat part of the plot which has been left natural- this would be perfect for mobile homes, cabins or yurts and you could even install a swimming pool. The location and aspect of the finca mean it would be a wonderful wellness and yoga retreat or a centre for walking holidays as the location is central to many stunning, mapped hiking routes.
