January is the coldest month on the Costa Blanca. Make no mistake, inland Marina Alta areas can see frost on the vineyards and temperatures dipping to below zero. However, you won´t here anyone complaining because year round sunshine is the order of the day here!

6 reasons why the Marina Alta is the perfect area to live, all year round:

1) Climate- The Marina Alta has been declared by the World Health Organisation, one of the healthiest places to live. It has a unique micro climate and year round sunshine. In January, the days are filled with sunshine and, in a sheltered spot, in the sun, in mid afternoon, temperatures can reach the mid twenties! Anyone who lives here permanently will tell you that winter is wonderful.

2) Accessibility- The coastline of the Marina Alta forms the headland that reaches out across the Mediterranean sea to the Balearics, which are visible from the coastal areas and it is an easy, 2hr 15min ferry ride from Denia to Ibiza. There are two major international airports at Alicante and Valencia within an hours drive. The meticulously maintained motorways provide easy travelling to explore the whole of Spain, eg. Barcelona is a leisurely 5 hour drive from the Marina Alta. The rail network, RENFE, is an efficient and cheap way to travel, with the AVE (high speed train network) connecting the major cities.

3) Beaches- The coastline stretches from the stunning, sandy beaches of Les Deveses to the busier, family beaches of Calpe. The beautiful coastal towns of Denia, Javea, Moraira and Benissa are along the way. 

Of course, this stretch of the North Costa Blanca is very popular with holiday makers and that is, either a big attraction for those looking for the hustle and bustle of the coastal areas, or a good reason to travel 15-30 minutes inland, near enough to visit and to leave behind.

4) Picturesque landscapes and scenery- The inland areas are where you will find peace and tranquility and still only a very short trip to the beach. The inland Marina Alta is simply beautiful. Mountains and Valleys are dotted with idyllic, Spanish pueblos and the land is agricultural or wild and rustic.

5) Outdoor pursuits- Inland Marina Alta has a diverse range of walking trails and cycling routes, which are some of the best in Europe. The Blue Flag beaches include stoney and sandy coves and bays, geared up for water sports, including; snorkeling and diving, wind and kite surfing, surfing and paddle boarding. If golf is your game, there are over 40 stunning golf courses on the Costa Blanca.

6) High value real estate makes for excellent investment possibilities- Property in the area is by no means cheap, but there is something to suit most budgets. If money is no object, a luxury, Ibizan style villa, with panoramic sea views, is for you.
